Faculty in the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science and Health, are involved in many areas of environmental research, such as bioremediation, environmental toxicology, environmental chemistry, air quality, hydrology, and technology.

In addition to research within academic departments, students may, under supervision by the graduate advisory committee, work on research projects sponsored by the Recycling and Reuse Technology Transfer Center (RRTTC). The RRTTC, through a program of competitive grants awarded to UNI faculty and staff, promotes the development of alternative technologies for recycling and reuse.

The MS in Environmental Science and Health is a thesis only degree. In consultation with a faculty advisor, each student will select a thesis topic and a graduate advisory committee. The graduate advisory committee will oversee the thesis research. For a list of past thesis topics, students and faculty advisors, contact Dr. Maureen Clayton, Director, Environmental Programs.
